Catain's Log, Aug 4, 2024

James and I arrived Thursday night and were i position, later in the night to see some brilliant shooting stars.

There are turtle nests in front of the Morning Glory and in front of the Von's. The one in front of the Von's was laid on 6/27 and is now surrounded in pink tape. They are checking it each morning.
The one in front of the Morning Glory was laid on July 28th so longer to go. I'm going to research some more to see if there is information on when they are predicted to hatch.

House looks good. They ended up being able to replace the rot under the western windows without having to "rebuild the wall." Thus they didn't need to do interior work ti the sheetrock etc.
They have the lights to install, some touchup painting, and the roof project.

The Gulf is as warm as a bathtub. I really hope we don't get a hurricane because if we do it is going to have a lot of access to heat energy.

The water was clear. Swarms of baitfish. I was swimming in a cloud of them and they were running into me which was funny until one actually swam into my ear canal. Only the tip of his tail was sticking out. I had a really hard time getting a a grip to pull him out. Really freaky.

Peter joined us Friday night and the three us went on a scuba trip with Down Under Dive Shop Saturday morning. Left out of Sand Roc Cay Marina. Hand to be there at 8. Rode about an hour and half out to the Navy Tug and dove first. Depth of 87 feet at the deepest. Great visibility. Great schools of small fish and plenty of healthy sized snapper, amber jack, spade fish, urchin, sea fans, colorful corals covering the wreck. We were down about 30 minutes. Surfaced and moved to the Captain Shirley Brown. Great Dive there too about the same depth. Cooler scene because it was a little more or a shipwreck that you could peer in through portholes etc. Similar fish and sea life assembly. Not a cheap adventure but very therapeutic and awe-inspiring.

We got in at about 2 pm which meant we missed the Trump Boat parade. Oh well.
