Subject: Beach update
Hey Everyone,
We are home from Ft. Morgan. A few updates:
- New Washer and Dryer are installed and working well
- New AC/compressor is installed and working
- New grinder pump installation was started Tuesday and completed today, I'll email the invoice separately. We spoke to them multiple times about including hurricane damage, which they did. I hope it is sufficient for USAA to cover it.
- Rhonda Redd will clean tomorrow, she was ready to do it today but I asked her to wait a day until plumbing work was finished.
- Had a good meeting with Duaine and we ran through the final items on updated punch list. They are working on some stuff at rental properties up the road that will take another 1.5 wks and then he'd finish us up, he said. They started cleaning up debris while we were there and of course were crucial to the washer/dryer install.
- Tom, I have some receipts to send to you. I bought a new Coleman beach tent, which is nice! The instructions are attached to the inside bag, it has a couple of new technologies we had never seen. I bought some new sheets for each room (except the kids) and put them in each closet. Also a couple of the bathrooms were missing bath mats so I replaced those. And new towel bars from Lowe's for Duaine/Nathan to install.
- We didn't have time to get the ice maker from Duaine and Nathan's shop. The next person who goes can research who services Scotsmans down there, or bring it home for Matt Yager to fix. :-) He did confirm that he repairs them. Duaine said the older Scotsmans are better than new models that will probably break in the next few years. I don't know that that one has ever worked like a champ, but I know that new ones are so expensive, too. Ice makers are frustrating!
Spencer and her friends had a great time at the beach and there were nice people staying around us. There are some dum dums flying a Trump 2024 flag a few houses East of us, which is an eyesore! Free country though, right? The economy down there is in an interesting post pandemic/Hurricane Sally phase. I think they're not quite ready for the Summer and all of the tourists it brings, but maybe things will get better. All restaurants are hiring and try to avoid Lowe's if you can! There were appliance shortages for so long, now everyone is buying them, and they don't have enough employees to deliver, or to answer the phone. When I was there, everyone around me was in a similar predicament and the poor employee in the appliance was sweating bullets and totally overwhelmed. Understaffed and overworked seems to be the norm, so getting things accomplished is more time consuming.
Oh- another funny tidbit- the last night, we were going to take the girls to Lulu's. We arrived at 5:45. There was a 3 hour wait. Needless to say, we didn't stay!!
Ft. Morgan road is being paved which causes delays, but looked to be finishing soon. The water was clear and beautiful. The beach looks long, as in the water is farther away, yea! Dunes look great and have built up around the property fence that Cliff erected. ;-)
Hope y'all get to go enjoy it soon!!
Arch, am I forgetting anything?
-Marge
