It was going to be complicated to rebuild and takes up space. The only time my family used it was when the kids dropped soft drinks down it or soft drink packaging and I got in trouble. So I have a little grudge against it.

But seriously, I don't really care about the laundry chute, fine to let it go!

I don't see the estimate in the Beach/Hurricane Sally folder, what am I doing wrong?
Mom and I bargained hard for that laundry chute, but we can let it go I guess.  Dad thought it was pretty silly as I recall.  She was so excited to have a laundry room and improvements from the Dell Rd. home setup.

I got the estimate this evening and saved it to the Google folder they estimated the work at $15,000 and are sending us a check for $4,000. I think it is sort of a low ball Estimate. But maybe you could do it for that much if there isn't moisture and mold elsewhere.

By the way, I told them we didn't care about laundry chute. Do we?

We will probably have to go back and forth for a while with insurance. Your tile suggestion Is a really good one. I'll explore.

Thank you for this and for your detailed report.  I did spend money at Walmart, and I will look for the receipt but probably tossed it.  However, I charged supplies to Mom and Dad's WF card, the one I have in my wallet that's about to expire.  So I need no reimbursement, but I am sorry I don't have proof of what I bought.

Thank you so much to you, Ivy and James for going down there and dealing with so much.  I hope you all have been able to rest up since!

Do we have a time when the adjuster will share her/his report, and we will know what our reimbursement will look like?  I.E., HOW MUCH?!!

You asked about flooring and paint colors in your email.  For the carpet, could we tile the hallways instead of recarpeting, up and down, and keep the carpet in the bedrooms?  Would be nice for hallway traffic and then we wouldn't have to match carpet, but maybe it's cost prohibitive, I don't know.  For tile, we could match to the tile color in the kitchen or choose something else.  I'm not wed to tile, I know there are other materials- bamboo? linoleum with updated patterns, etc.  I just threw out the tile option as something that's already there.  I don't have a strong opinion on paint colors other than I like the neutral tones that are down there, and I have no urge to redecorate, but I'm not opposed to changing them either, if someone wants to take that on.  It would be great to get the hallways repainted, they are in rough shape.

Oh- you mentioned the trash can.  There was one that had washed up/ended up on the vacant lot during Sally.  I dragged it to our usual spot at the end of Ponce.  And added trash to it.  Was it there when y'all were down there?  I guess someone savvy could find their serial number on it and reclaim, but I was hoping Finders Keepers...  I've tried to order a new one before from Baldwin Co. and there was great mystery surrounding its delivery and placement.

Ivy and Spencer both have a cross country meet this weekend, so we can't go down there.

On another note- we forgot to mention anything about Mom's anxiety/confusion about where she will sleep and stuff to Dr. Spiegel.  I think I will email Blake about it, I talked to Cevannah today and it just sounds like the anxiety is present.  Not that I want him to do anything about it, just for him to know it isn't a new behavior.  We had a great visit with her last Friday over here and I'll work on that happening again this week.

I think that's all the news I have.  Thanks again!!

Please track and keep receipts for anything you spend on hurricane remediation and repair.
Marchie: I know y'all have something to add to the Google Spreadsheet I set up.

It's in a Hurricane Sally folder in the Google Drive under Spencer/residential/back/hurricane sally

I'll send reimbursement to anyone who spends, because whatever reimbursement from USAA will ultimately be reimbursed to Mudder and Daddy Burr.
