Re: Ship’s log June 1, 2022

This is a wonderful and newsy update, thank you!  I really enjoyed it. And thank you for so many house improvements and repairs. I look forward to hearing about the Haycraft slumber party in great detail!!  Too bad those sombreros are gone, y'all could have had a real fiesta!

We bought and brought the stretchy tent down there.  The last time we used the large Coleman, it sustained some wind damage.  The stretchy one is neat and easy, and stays up if you hold your nose just right. :-)

We look forward to getting down there for adventures sometime soon.

Thanks again,
Marge

The weather was great the whole time but especially perfect as we are driving away.
The air handler in the attic was replaced and we're good to go on that.
We got one additional surprise. The Haycrafts arrived and mentioned that the Morning Glory got an even stronger surge during the lighting storm. They lost tvs and refrigerators and they mentioned their grinder pump which led me to check ours. We'd blown two fuses as well, we later found after a visit from 24-7. That was fixed as well.
Speaking of the Haycrafts: we had them over to spend the night. Their big house is still in shambles from Sandy and they were going to sleep on a blow up mattress with no air conditioning. Many stories to tell from that.
Beach was not super crowded. Well behaved renters. A lot of no trespassing signs have gone up to keep non beach front renters from crossing lots. Makes me less guilty about being crabby protecting the dunes. We had no tresspassers this week.
Love the new style bungee  tent.  Who bought that?  They're all the rage on the beach.
The new location of Jesse's, the famous magnolia springs restaurant, is coming along but looks pretty far from being open.

Ridiculous new beach bric a brac store next to Rouses.

Ivy is a big ALDI fan and we racked up the bargains at the Foley ALDI on the way down.
I've authorized Duaine to make repairs to the bayside upper deck where the rafter hangers have rusted out. Don't have a party on that deck until it gets fixed.
Icemaker doesn't work. I give up.
One correction to the record. The trash can full of trash was one of the big honkers issued by the county. It was one of the Morning Glory's. Regardless, the ones that were under our house a gone.
