Nice unexpected trip to the beach due to Coronavirus
Children were diligent in their schoolwork but were able to recreate in the sun and surf during breaks.
The temptation to go other places was lessened and the disconnection from friends didn't seem as oppressive.
Bandwidth was mostly adequate to handle business conferencing etc.
Patrols by law enforcement were infrequent and not real aggressive. Despite the beaches being closed, there were walkers and some swimmers.
The bay was crowded especially on the weekends. Lot of people launching small boats at St. Andrews Bay.
We deployed new crab traps purchased by Cliff. And had luck, particularly in the channel to the left of the launch.
Unfortunately, one of the traps was stolen.
Peter and I had a great venture on Saturday, launching the kayak from Pilot Town.
That bayside beach is quite the scene these days, by the way. The beach closing only applied to sandy shore abutting the Gulf of Mexico. So folks are camping out on the bay. There were couples and families deployed up and down the beach. Peter and I started to put in one of the ponds which was pretty. We saw an alligator.
We moved over to the bay and then went around the corner into that far end of St. Andrews Bay.
We waded out from the beach and cast out in the channel. We were using rigs with a floater and trailing artificial shrimp lutes. You fish them by jerking the line up every little to make the shrimp "pop."
It wasn't long before we were catching beautiful speckled trout. It was 2:30 p.m. and high tide.
Cleaned them and cooked them that night. Baked with lemon, oregano, and olive oil. They were real tasty.
Beach House Reexamination Project
I hope Rhonda steps up and doe a nice job the time, but I have to say that we made a pretty substantial contribution to the beach house cleanup. Ivy deserves a lot of credit.
At the same time, though, it may not even be noticeable.
I don't think I realized how much the beachhouse had grown to be like Dell Road. We threw away a lot of stuff. I hope
Paint update
We got rid of about 6 cans of paint
There are probably six more gallons in there.
We ran out of kitty litter.
This isn't necessarily a pressing project. Kept ceiling paint and tons and tons of painting equipment.
Probably shouldn't have. I have a hard time imagining any of us actually pulling off even a limited repairing project.
Mom and Dad's closet
I slimmed down Dad's clothes to some classics, stuff Cliff and I might wear. Probably could have tossed it all but couldn't "go there" psychologically.
I took some of the charts from his desk (left a lot there) and stored them in the closet.
Moved some of the rods from the corner of the room downstairs to the closet as well.
Moved some of my clothes up there for storage purposes, to get them out of that downstairs bedroom closet.
Mom's stuff is ripe for thinning and discard.
Laundry Room
De-duplicated and threw out a lot of stuff, vacuumed
Resorted tools
Upstairs utility closet
Threw out trailer lights
And other items
Kitchen
We moved excess pots to the adult downstairs bedroom closet
There are about 4 rolls of TP per bathroom
